I FINALLY got back in the saddle and processed a roll of b & w film today. Turns out...it was from our summer trip to SoCal! Yowza! I don't think I've ever knowingly left a roll of film that long (lost in my purse, maybe, but not had it sit out on my desk all that time). It's typically a fun experience, this, though...a surprise, if you will. Looking back on what was on this particular roll is a little weird, given some personal issues that were going on at the time. That being said, I'm not thrown into any old emotions necessarily...but have the strong sense of how strange the time was. Glad that was then and this is now!
Okay, so I've finished my daily blog posts that lasted six months (half birthday to birthday). What now for here? Well, I'm thinking regular posts, just not daily...maybe a few times a week. I'd like to institute no internet days for at least a couple times a week...I need to unplug and physically create work, amongst other things. What that means is, I'm still going to be posting with regularity and hopefully with more thoughtful content (and more writing...something on which I'd like to expand), just with less frequency.
Lastly, I have entered my 53rd year! Sheesh...time is a slippery little thing. I've started a new 365(6) daily self portrait project on Flickr...the set will be here. This will be a back burner, just-keeping-a-pulse-on-myself sort of thing while I approach more significant creative work and, quite possibly, gainful employment. We're all going out tonight to celebrate (my birthday, not my projects) only I haven't been informed to where! Matt gave me a sewing machine (yay! more creative projects) and a wonderful DVD called "The Shadow of the House" about the photographer Abelardo Morell, and Julian surprised me with a lovely pair or turquoise earrings! That and all the good wishes from my friends and family have made it a very happy birthday.
