And yet again...more lumen explorations. These are made on expired mystery paper a friend had given me. All I can really tell you is that it's resin coated and glossy (not my faves, but hey it's free and these are preliminary experiments). I decided to return to some older negatives I'd made and used last year (and some from a year or two before that). This harkens back to the ancestor/baba yaga/healer series I worked on in 2016/17, which were blue cyanotypes. I don't believe I did any toning to speak of last year either.
It's tricky trying to get the cut out negative pieces to lay completely flat and flush with the paper, when there are botanicals adding some space in between the paper and plexi cover. The transparency material tends to curve a bit at the edges. So, there's still more work to be done with these. That being said, I can see the potential.
It's an overcast day today. It's cooler, though, and that's a plus. After a couple days of this, there's another week of warm temperatures ahead before a promise of some actual autumn weather forecast. This summer has dragged on, and on, and on. I feel like every week I say, "Ah, the forecast is for just another week of this." So...maybe I shouldn't mention the forecast at all! That being said, it's weird to have the temperatures still so warm, especially at night, but the light so different and some leaves starting to fall. There is one single tree in my neighborhood which is actually sporting full, bright gold/orange leaves! I was taken by surprise to notice it. All the rest, though, are sort of turning brown and just shedding. I do hope for a cold snap by mid month or so, which will turn the switch for fall color!
