I was inspired to create a couple of cyanotypes, impromptu-like, this week. At the ready was sensitized paper, sunlight and pressed botanicals...and for whatever reason I was moved into the process. Now, the paper had been sitting since last year, and although it was in a dark drawer, I still wasn't confident of how it would work. Surprisingly, the paper itself was fine but since it had been several months since I last printed with the sun, my exposures were off. The blue was beautiful, but a little too dark for my negatives and some of the botanicals. It wasn't a "feature" for me. So, the next day I again followed some strange internal motivation and did a quick toning job on the prints. Voila! I'm actually quite pleased with these two, which will be added to the "Baba Yaga's Garden" series. Now, the question might be...do I dare dip them in encaustic medium?? Time will tell...
