The Third Act

Friday morning...

Gearing up for the day.  Tea...yes...always tea.  Despite the chill, the light is lovely this morning.

I collect random stuff from nature...rocks, driftwood, seed pods.  I particularly love poppy seed pods.  These little globes-on-a-stick-with-a-little-hat are just so...fun!  Poppy seed pods also remind me of potential, fertility, and comfort...always good thoughts to keep in my heart.

...of the imagination, movement, energy.  spring isn't far off, although...where was winter, exactly?  

 

 

 

ideas

I get into streams of ideas sometimes.  The tendency is to hold them back and not fully open to them because they're too...big (maybe it's a "don't get your hopes up" sort of thing...).  But right now, I'm allowing these thoughts out to circulate and build.  To open to the impractical, the fantastical, the seemingly unattainable (for whatever the reasons), with a gentle effort to remain unattached to outcome...is an invigorating exercise.

 

 

great grandmother

I do wonder about her...and her mothers before her.  What stories would they tell?  Even my grandmother I only knew through little bits of information from my mom and her sister.  They were, these grandmothers, from a different time, a different land.  I think about their talents, flaws, hardships, and the adjustments they had to make over the centuries.  The only way I can even know them a little is to try to access their collective memory within myself.  A lot of it may be imagination, but I'd like to think their best qualities may have shown up in me.  On the flip side, I understand that trauma and anxiety can be passed down generationally and offer up compassion to them and to myself when pondering my limitations.

I may often wonder about just exactly where I belong, but my home will always reflect who I am in this moment.  And I just noticed that half these images are of kitchen and dining room!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

A fun end to a busy week...

I got to take part in a Super 8 film project today.  My respect for film makers has grown exponentially!  It was fun and such a pleasure to be invited to join in this effort.  

And now...the weekend.

I received a replacement for my Lomo Instant Wide (the first one was having problems with the feed).  I have to say, I'm really pleased with Lomo's response to this issue.  That being said, I'm back to using this camera with Instax film again.  It'll take a couple packs of film to test run and build my confidence.

Other than that...I'm busy with part time gainful employment, learning the ropes of things very alien to me (but still of interest), walking Hershey (now and then), and all the other same ol same ol of life.  The weather has been cold, but sadly no snow.  One of these days the sun will shine brightly and I'll feel the sap starting to move in the trees and see the (already sprouting) bulbs coming to blossom and I'll be ready to leave winter behind (and probably then it'll snow!).  In the mean time, I did order another load of firewood.

 

 

 

Log Lady redux?

I was on the go all day.  When I was home...I was still on the go, being that I needed to cut more wood for the stove.  Now, when I say cut, that just means cutting to size the TOO LONG pieces I got in the last fire wood delivery.  I ordered more wood today...and made sure they knew to give me the right sizes this time.

Anyway, I dragged out the chain saw again.  I also retrieved more chunks of wood that were from the last spring's fallen limb, which still litter my yard (I say litter...they're actually quite lovely).  It seems like it was going to be a day without much time for photos or art of any kind.  So...here I am in my Log Lady appearance! 

There should be some new pinholes in the next few days (fingers crossed!).
