A friend and I went out to the northern neck weekend before last. Despite the gray day it was nice to get out of town and see something different. I haven't explored Virginia nearly enough as yet.
The tasting was fun, the wines pleasant and the vineyard dogs quite happy and charming (you can just barely see them in the first picture below).
More road trips are warranted this year I think!

...catching a breath. Busy day...looking ahead to a busy week. Lots of here and there and talking and jotting things down. Not too much physical labor today, but I did that at home yesterday! I'm glad soup is already made and I just need to fix a salad for dinner. An an early night will be a must because I've got a 9am counseling appointment tomorrow and then off to the races with my list!
It appears I've committed myself to this daily photo/blog post project again (no idea what # this is, but I've been at it since January 4). But...I'm going to keep it casual in case there are days when it's just not doable (I don't know what that would mean...it's not too hard to have a photo and a few words to put up, but you never know).

but I spent a few hours working in the garden today. It was lovely and warm out...the birds were singing up a storm. I managed to get the fig trees pruned, as well as some of the smaller plants. Fallen leaves were removed from many of the herb areas, so I could see exactly what was coming back up. Unsurprisingly, the mint seems to have a head start. I was very happy to see that the St. John's wort has spread, as well as the California mugwort. There are signs of life everywhere with leaf buds swelling and seedlings of nigella and bread seed poppy already poking up. Through it all Avery maintained her vigilant supervision of the whole enterprise.

Woke up late...but that was okay since I figure if I'm sleeping soundly and don't have anywhere to be, that's exactly what I need. Usual morning routine...but...I have a new supply of my self created smoky tea blend which meant a very satisfying cuppa this morning. I don't know what it is about that tea...the woodiness, almost savory and rich. Maybe it reminds me of a campfire (although there's usually reminders of that at the ready in winter, given the wood stove and all). But anyway, I took my time with the tea, almost finishing "Recollections of My Life as a Woman". The book makes me want to create and not waste time...I often think how much time I've wasted in my life. Maybe that's a Capricorn thing. Most folks looking in at my day wouldn't really think I'm wasting time, so...why chastise myself? Anyway, I thought pulling out the Lomo for today's post seemed appropriate.
