First morning this year I've had tea on the porch. I'm glad I cleaned it up yesterday.
I actually loaded a tank with some film just now. This will be a miscellaneous assortment of pinholes. I won't have a chance to process until tomorrow, though. So, be on the lookout for a few black and white pinholes soon!

It definitely felt like spring today. I was out in the garden for quite a while, doing this and that, trying to maintain an awareness of when certain body parts were telling me "enough". I also went on a scavenger hunt for trees and found a couple of bare root apricots at Costco! Now, apricots are not known to do well in VA, so it was a surprise to find them at all. But ever the plant optimist, I'm going to see how they do for me (hopefully I can find them spots that provide enough sunshine). This evening was the first time this year that I sat out on the porch for any length of time.

It's been a beautiful spring-like day. I got a little work done in the garden....expanding my growing area and moving logs (that may not have been wise, but oh well). Now I'm inside working on kulebiak, an eastern European savory pie. Mine will have a vegetarian filling with onions, mushrooms, sauerkraut, hard cooked eggs and marinated carrots. The dough is currently rising.
I'm still working on understand my focusing distances with the Lomo Instant wide.

I went to the monthly photo book meet up last evening. It's typically never a big gathering, but there are a core group of us that averages around six individuals, and we always have a good time. Sometimes we don't have newly acquired books to share and we might bring personal work. Last night I grabbed a few portfolios from my collection of peel apart Polaroids. The portfolios are rather randomly arranged, as I was just trying to get the photos stored with a bit more protection. There happened to be a lot of self nudes among the photos, mostly from several years ago.
I don't make self nudes all that often any more. I take up more space than I used to. This body carries my emotional burdens, my pain, my effort and sincerity. There is the natural entropy of aging at work...and sometimes that's a lot, and it shows. This is something that I keep closer to myself than I used to, in the days when I was exploring my artistic expression as well as my attitude towards this physical form. But once in a while, I'm drawn to see what's currently there.

I worked this morning and into the early afternoon. After I was finally home, and Avery walked, and the trash taken out...I decided to putter a bit in the garden. After three hours working out there yesterday, I knew I wouldn't last too long. But I did level out some of the stump grindings on the area where a few more fruiting trees will go. I'm getting excited!! There are a couple of small sassafras trees I need to get out. I figure I can take some sections of the roots and bury them in the back yard, which is where I'd rather have them do their thing.
A neighbor was walking by while I was out there. She commented on how things were "coming back". I agreed and said that little by little the garden will take shape again. She told me how much enjoys walking past the garden. There have been a number of people tell me this. She said it always smells so good and that she noticed a fennel scent. I said, yup, that'd be the bronze fennel. And she thanked me! What a delight to have someone thank me for something that comes so naturally and is so satisfying...icing on the cake.
