I took these pictures of a few white oak leaves yesterday morning...when the sun was illuminating them like stained glass. Today...it's raining. This isn't a bad thing necessarily since we haven't had rain for over a week. Although the precipitation is remnants from hurricane Delta, it's not particularly warm out. It's not cold either, but cool enough for it to feel like an autumn rain.
My guess is that leaf color will be better than last year. August 2019 was hot and dry, after which we had a very cold snap in October (I think) which just sort of dry froze some of the leaves. Even before that freeze, color wasn't stellar. Despite this early stage there are reds and oranges starting to dot the trees. This makes me happy (it's the small things, you know?).
