How long does content live online? I mean, it doesn't matter to me, really. I just find it interesting that this old blog, which was active from 2004 to 2007, and randomly became inaccessible to post to or edit, is still alive.
I started on Flickr on account of this blog, because at the time I couldn't upload photos directly to it and images had to be stored on an intermediary site. That changed after a while, but by that time I was hooked on Flickr and the rest is that history (and the present).
Still, I think of all the ignored content on the internet and wonder, is it like a plastic bag that's been buried in the earth, that will take an unimaginable length of time to decompose and disappear? If something is unattended to, will it live forever in the realms of the etheric digital landscape? What a strange world we've created that lives outside of our physical experience, but is at the time so real to us.
