The power came back on around 5:20 this morning. Despite the utility trucks being just up the street throughout the night, I slept okay. All in all it wasn't a completely negative situation, since it had me in bed and to sleep earlier (than recently).
Today the sun is shining, the wind still blowing a bit and the temperature significantly dropped. Tonight it'll be in the mid 30s, then the next couple nights in the 20s. I'll gather all the protective material I can find for the garden (floating row cover, old blankets and towels, and lots of stashed, shredded leaves for insulation) to batten down the hatches starting tonight.
Other than that, this will be a kinda sorta rest and reset day. I'm starting some new self care measures, covering many bases. It's always interesting to see what will evolve. Aging is a fascinating, frustrating, and ultimately empowering (I hope) process. Growing more in self understanding, in compassion, in acceptance...the efforts are for the long haul.
