Today is the first of a few very cold mornings. 31F today, tomorrow and Tuesday in the 20s. I covered many plants last evening. Everything except a few buckwheat sprouts that were left uncovered seem unscathed. Today I'll put some shredded leaves around the domes that are on the nightshades, just to give more insulation. I may even cover the domes with fabric. There's a bush cherry that's just starting to bloom, so that should be covered too.
While I didn't really expect this cold snap (or maybe it was just wishful thinking), I'm not surprised. I think the last frost date for this zone is in April. Still, I'm glad I started on the garden early. It's wonderful therapy.
