Despite Japanese beetles, squirrels (that have discovered cukes and tomatoes), deer (that apparently figured out how to stretch over the fishing line), intense heat, hard rains...things keep growing. In fact, when I see plants chewed on I figure I can just trim them back and they'll grow some more. Sure, maybe that diminishes harvest, but I've had plenty for myself and some to give away. Every year is different, every year I learn. I rather love this relationship I have with the plants and the garden as a whole.
