I'm still posting instant photos from time spent with the kids last weekend and earlier this week. The two down below are from the hotel up in Alexandria. I still have film waiting to process too! But today I think I'll do some indoor holiday stuff.
The Christmas boxes are out of the closet, but I've yet to open them up. In truth, I don't have too many decorations. I'd say I have just enough, especially if I make any ephemeral pieces as I did last year (with the orange and cinnamon stick garlands). A fresh tree is probably in my future as well. It seems I debate getting a tree every year. Then I go take a look at them, (I say, "I'll just take a look") and invariably end up toting one home. I want to put more lights outside. If the rain abates this afternoon, maybe I'll attempt that as well.
There's a fire going in the wood stove, even though it's not terribly cold out. But it helps with the gloominess. Maybe I should make some soup too.
I enjoy this slowed down, introspective time of year. While I miss being near family during the winter holidays, I'll look on the bright side and appreciate the quiet. Now, if only it would snow...
