I was gone for a few hours yesterday. I decided to take a drive out to Forrest Green Farm in Louisa. Since the garden has been transitioning, there are a few spots that need new plants. In addition, there was at least one plant I hadn't yet procured for the garden (it's a bit more unusual, so not found in typical nurseries).
It was a nice day, but hazy. The smoke from the wildfires in Canada has drifted down over the mid-Atlantic. It's a drag...for anyone concerned (and we're not as bad off as many). I found what I wanted at FGF and bought two Roselle, two Tagetes Lucida, two Angelica, one ground cherry and one sweet/mildy spicy pepper (I don't remember the name of the variety). Hopefully I'll get them all planted today. So far it's not terribly hot, but the humidity is climbing.
After the nursery I took some back roads to get to Carter Mountain Orchard for peaches. It's fun driving a less beaten path rather than barreling down highway 64. The only downside is that I was alone! I love looking for usual sights and taking pictures. I'm less inclined to pull over to shoot images, when I don't have a companion. Ah well...maybe some day?
Here's a little video I put together of my adventure...
And here are few Instax mini images of the FGF and my little purchase...
