It's really starting to feel like fall. The temperatures look to be on the cool side for the next week. I'm actually seeing color in some of the trees. Today the skies are gray with a major rain event on the way.
Forecasted heavy rain always gives me a bit of anxiety. The flooding that was in the lower level of my house on a couple occasions really unnerved me. But now there is waterproof vinyl down there. I've already moved anything without a solid surface off the floor itself. So...we shall see!
I had to run errands this afternoon. In Target I was perusing all the autumn and Halloween items. I spent an inordinate amount of time smelling candles. I do love a good spicy candle. Some of the offerings, though, were just cloying and gross. No purchases made of those, but I will confess to getting a bag of candy corn.
Autumn is such a poignant time for me. There's a lot of nostalgia brought on by the desire to nest. Even the smells of spicy candles can bring up memories, which then trigger a bit of sadness because my life is so different now. But I realize my life isn't bad...just different. I'll still do my nesting, cooking and making the house cozy.
